There are many different options to increase the lighting in your home. Lighting can be used for practical purposes, such as reading, or aesthetic, such as creating ambiance. It is necessary to ensure that your home has enough light, and it can be an easy task if you know what you’re doing. The following are some simple methods on how to increase lighting in the house.
1) USE DAYLIGHT LAMPS
If it’s possible, combine natural light with electric lamps in every room of your house. The result will be much better than just using lamps. Daylight lamps are specifically designed to imitate natural light. They provide a diffused, clean light which is very useful for your eyes. If you have windows in the room but don’t get much sunlight, this could be the perfect solution for you!
2) DECORATE WITH CANDLES
Candles are not just beautiful to look at, and they also have a positive effect on the atmosphere of your home. If you decorate with candles, it will also give your room a cozy feeling – use them carefully!
3) USE LIGHT SWITCHES WISELY
Whenever you can’t replace lamps with Daylight lamps or other kinds of lighting, think again about where to use the lamp’s switch. Only use it when you enter the room and use it seldom afterward.
4) DARKEN THE ROOM
If you have a big desk lamp at home, put a cover over it so that only a little bit of light comes out of it. This will also save your lamp from getting dirty because it’s not in use all the time! When there is less light, your eyes need more time to adjust, reading or going through papers much more accessible.
5) OPEN YOUR CURTAINS!
This doesn’t sound like a trick because it’s so apparent, but much too often, people forget this elementary rule. You can see what happens when you open the curtains in this room. It looks so much better with natural light.
6) DON’T FORGET ABOUT DAYLIGHT!
Don’t think you have to use all your electric lamps even when there is a lot of natural light at home. Daylight positively affects our mood, so make sure you get as much daylight as possible into your house! If you use electric lamps, don’t forget to switch them off when they are not needed.
